Itinerary: Tumpak Sewu waterfalls, volcano Bromo & Ijen crater lake - 3 days & 2 nights
Tumpak Sewu waterfall are also called the Indonesian Niagara waterfalls.... Check for yourself! Depending on the season, the waterflow is more or less. The height is about 120 m.
Mt. Bromo & Mt. Ijen are 2 spectacular highlights in East Java. You will have to wake up early each morning, but you will get rewarded.

Pick up in Surabaya to visit the Tumpak Sewu waterfalls in Lumajang
Tumpak Sewu waterfalls and the colourful kampong Jodipan in Malang city
You will be picked up by our team at your hotel in Surabaya or at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya. The earlier the better as then you will have more time to enjoy the daylight.
The drive to Tumpak Sewu waterfalls takes about 4 to 5 hours depending on traffic conditions.
After parking you hike in about 30 min to the waterfall. Take your time to absorb and observe the view.
Once back at the car, your will drive to Malang to spend the night. If time is sufficient and you feel up to it, you can visit the colorful kampong Jodipan.
Witness the sun rising over Mt. Bromo and its stunning landscape
Bromo sunrise tour via Cemara Lawang - Bondowoso city
At midnight you will be picked up at your hotel. By private car you will drive in about 2 to 3 hours to Cemara Lawang vilage. Then you will have to change to a privrate Jeep as regular cars aren't allowed in the National Park. It is another 45 minutes' drive to Mt. Pananjakan, one of the highest view points in the area. The sunrise can be spectacular, depending on the weather conditions.
After sunrise, you will descend to the volcanic black sea of sand. If you wish to walk in the impressive moonlike landscape just ask the driver to stop. Otherwise he will bring you till near the Luhur Poten temple, from where it is a 45 minutes walk to the top of Mt. Bromo.
When back at the Jeep, you will return to Cemara Lawang. Have breakfast before you continue by private car to Bondowoso city.

Ijen crater lake - drop Ketapang harbour
If you wish the see the beautiful blue fire phenomenon you will have to leave around midnight, otherwise it will be early morning around 04:00 or 05:00.
From Bondowoso to Paltuding takes about 2 hours by car. At Paltuding your hike to Ijen crater lake starts. You will need about 1.5 hour to reach the top of mount Ijen. You will meet the sulphur miners on your way to the top. These days most of them use trolleys to wheel down the solidified sulphur to the weighing area just behind the parking lot. Once at the top, feel inspired and explore. Walk your day.
After you hiked back to the parking lot, enjoy a local snack and a welcoming cup of coffee or tea.
Then you will be heading to Ketapang harbour. On route you can visit the sulphur purifying factory, a coffee plantation and a waterfall. By estimation you will arrive around 12:00 or 13:00 in Ketapang harbour.
